The Youth Demand group staged a sit-down protest on Bridge Street near Parliament Square during the two-minute silence: however police say it only lasted about 120 seconds. The small-scale demonstration had zero effect on the main memorial service at the Cenotaph
Up north in Manchester pro-Palestinian activists also blocked some streets; their main focus being the UKʼs weapon-sales to Israel. The demonstrators set-up road-blocks and made their voices heard about the ongoing middle-east situation
The Met Police had well-prepared plans for potential disruptions across the city — they even made a pre-emptive move on sat when they detained one activist who they suspected might cause public disturbance. A police spokesperson said: “Our officers maintained order with minimal intervention needed; there were no arrests during the main events
