Royal Filmmaker Will Warr: From Intimate Royal Videos to Viral Food Content

Will Warr, the filmmaker behind Princess Kate's chemotherapy announcement video, is also co-creator of viral food channel Topjaw. His work spans royal intimacy and culinary exploration.

In a recent development, the Princess of Wales released a video announcing the completion of her chemotherapy treatment. This three-minute film, shot in Norfolk, offers a rare glimpse into the private life of Kate and William, showcasing their family in a more relaxed setting.

The man behind the camera, Will Warr, a 34-year-old London-based filmmaker, has been entrusted with documenting the Prince and Princess of Wales behind the scenes for several years. His work includes footage of the Coronation and the couple's 10-year wedding anniversary in 2021.

Warr's connection to the royal family came through photographer Matt Porteous, who has captured the Wales' Christmas card pictures. He has also collaborated on projects such as the Earthshot Prize, an environmental award launched by Prince William in 2020, and the Princess's visit to a baby bank in north London.

"It's always an honour to produce films for the Prince and Princess of Wales, but this one was particularly poignant. Thank you to the Princess of Wales for trusting me to create this."

Beyond his royal engagements, Warr is perhaps best known as one half of Topjaw, a runaway social media sensation. Topjaw, a food channel co-created with Jesse Burgess, has found remarkable success on platforms like YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram. The channel features quickfire interviews with chefs and food industry insiders, asking for their top recommendations for bars, restaurants, and dishes in various cities.

Topjaw's influence has grown to the point where a single recommendation can fill a restaurant's reservation book for months. Notable guests have included Michel Roux Jr., Jamie Oliver, Stanley Tucci, and Ed Sheeran. The channel made headlines when celebrity chef Marcus Wareing unexpectedly revealed his fondness for Pizza Express during an interview.

Warr's background includes studying industrial design at Loughborough University and attending Bloxham School, a co-ed boarding school near Banbury in Oxfordshire. He met Burgess in a London co-working space when he was an aspiring filmmaker.

While Warr has found success with short, viral videos, he aspires to work on longer projects. In an interview earlier this year, he expressed his love for "long-form, shooting landscape, cinematic and epic" content, with the ultimate goal of having a Netflix show.

As Warr continues to balance his work with the royal family and his successful food content channel, his unique perspective and ability to create intimate, engaging content have set him apart in both realms.
