Richard Tice has laid out Reform UKs bold-new strategy for Scottish politics‚ stating the party could be the decision-maker after next years election. Recent polls show them at 11% in regional-list voting intentions which might bring up to 14 seats in parliament
The partys quick rise is shown in recent by-election results: they got 18% of votes in Glasgow area (beating the conservative party which only managed about 5%) Its worth noting though that conservatives did win all four by-elections in north-east Scotland earlier this month
Anything is preferable to the SNP – theyʼve had their chance and blown it
Reform UK plans to run candidates in every constituency and region focusing on:
- North-east Scotland
- Glasgow area
- Rural communities
- Former oil-and-gas workers
The party is getting ready for its first-ever Scottish meeting (expecting around 250-270 people to show up in Perth) While Nigel Farage wont be there this time heʼs planning a rally in Scotland early next year
Their main focus is fighting against net-zero policies which Tice describes as harmful to jobs and economy. The party is trying to get support from different voter groups – disappointed conservatives socially-conservative labour voters and even some former SNP supporters
The conservatives under Russell Findlay are working to win back their voters with what they call a common-sense agenda but Reform UK leaders think they can still get ahead. They believe voters dont know much about the new conservative leader and dont trust traditional parties anymore
