On this wet Dec 1st morning Telegraphʼs office is full of holiday cheer (despite non-winter-like weather) as the yearly phone-donation event kicks-off. Staff members editors and some well-known faces are ready to chat with callers until 6pm today
The news-room is decorated with sparkly things and x-mas music fills the air but theres a serious purpose behind the festive mood: helping four life-changing organizations. Harry (age 17) and Jack (age 18) are among many young people getting support from Teenage Cancer Trust; while families like Franks benefit from Alzheimerʼs Research UKs work
The chosen charities for this years appeal include:
- Army Benevolent Fund helping soldiers and their families
- Humanity & Inclusion: supporting disabled people in war zones
- Teenage Cancer Trust: care for young cancer patients
- Alzheimerʼs Research UK: fighting dementia
In memory of David Knowles – our Ukraine podcast co-host – were supporting Humanity & Inclusion which helps people like Antonina who faced crisis in east Ukraine with a sick child. The charity brings aid to disabled and ill people caught in conflicts
