London newspaper's festive charity drive needs your help today
Telegraph staff members are taking donation calls in their holiday-themed outfits for four important causes. The one-day charity event supports cancer care youth services disabled peopleʼs aid military families and dementia research
On this wet Dec 1st morning Telegraphʼs office is full of holiday cheer (despite non-winter-like weather) as the yearly phone-donation event kicks-off. Staff members editors and some well-known faces are ready to chat with callers until 6pm today
The news-room is decorated with sparkly things and x-mas music fills the air but theres a serious purpose behind the festive mood: helping four life-changing organizations. Harry (age 17) and Jack (age 18) are among many young people getting support from Teenage Cancer Trust; while families like Franks benefit from Alzheimerʼs Research UKs work
The chosen charities for this years appeal include:
- Army Benevolent Fund helping soldiers and their families
- Humanity & Inclusion: supporting disabled people in war zones
- Teenage Cancer Trust: care for young cancer patients
- Alzheimerʼs Research UK: fighting dementia
In memory of David Knowles – our Ukraine podcast co-host – were supporting Humanity & Inclusion which helps people like Antonina who faced crisis in east Ukraine with a sick child. The charity brings aid to disabled and ill people caught in conflicts
