UK student groups plan controversial Remembrance Day gatherings next week
Student-led pro-Palestine groups announce demonstrations during UKʼs memorial day celebrations. Network of 15 university organizations coordinates actions while Cardiff students confirm local protest plans
A student-activist network called Student Federation for a Liberated Palestine is organizing nation-wide demonstrations during this years Remembrance Day (which takes place in just a few days)
The federation which includes 15 pro-palestine university groups across UK announced a co-ordinated student day of action. Caerdydd Students for Palestine from Cardiff University already confirmed their protest plans: it will happen at 5pm next monday outside the main campus building

Several other uni groups including those from Nottingham and Lincoln shared the announcement on social-media platforms. The term intifada (which means uprising) appears in their messages - some see it as solidarity while others interpret it as call-to-action
Last years Remembrance Day saw massive pro-palestine marches in London with counter-protests leading to street clashes. Then-PM Rishi Sunak spoke against both far-right groups and hamas supporters for their disrespect towards Armed Forces. However this year no large-scale demonstrations are expected in the capital
