Strictly Come Dancing Professionals Tour Halted for 2025

The popular Strictly Come Dancing professionals tour is set to take a hiatus in 2025, as announced by promoters. This decision comes as the BBC is finalizing a review into allegations of behind-the-scenes misconduct on the television series.

Launched in 2010, the theatrical tour last took place in May 2024. The tour's spokesperson stated, "Due to artist availability, the UK tour of Strictly The Professionals is taking a break next year, and plans are currently being finalized for 2026."

The announcement coincides with ongoing investigations into alleged bullying incidents. Graziano Di Prima, who participated in the May 2024 tour, later departed from the show after admitting to an incident involving his dance partner, Zara McDermott, during rehearsals.

Speculation has arisen regarding the tour's cancellation, with some sources suggesting it may be an attempt to avoid further negative publicity. However, tour insiders dispute this claim, citing conflicting schedules of many professionals who are committed to their own shows next year.

"Strictly is trying to rebuild as a brand and the Professionals tour was known as a hotbed of drinking and fun. The pro dancers work hard and play hard but, with everything that's happened recently, it seems axing it eliminates the chance of any further issues."

A source told The Sun newspaper

It's worth noting that Strictly Come Dancing has been a cultural phenomenon since its inception in 2004. The show has been exported to over 60 countries and was recognized by the Guinness World Records as the world's most successful reality TV format in 2010.

The BBC is currently reviewing allegations made by Amanda Abbington, a contestant from the 2023 series, against her partner Giovanni Pernice. Pernice, who strongly denies the claims, has recently joined the Italian version of the show, "Ballando con le Stelle."

Despite these controversies, the upcoming series of Strictly Come Dancing is set to begin on September 14, 2024. Contestants have expressed their enthusiasm, with Sam Quek, Olympic medallist and former Question of Sport team captain, stating, "There's two sides to the truth. It shouldn't take the shine off Strictly. It's a positive show."

The show's enduring popularity is evident in its numerous accolades, including several BAFTAs. With over 300 celebrities having participated since its inception, Strictly Come Dancing continues to captivate audiences with its unique blend of competition, entertainment, and dance.

While the professionals tour takes a break, the main show's celebrity tour will proceed as planned, ensuring fans can still experience the glamour and excitement of Strictly Come Dancing live.
