Police officers face probe after tragic crash with mom-to-be in London
Two Met police officers under investigation after unmarked car collision took lives of pregnant woman and unborn baby in south-east London. Incident happened near Kidbrooke Park Road last month
A month ago a terrible car crash in south-east London led to the death of a 38-year old mom-to-be and her unborn baby (who was due in a few weeks). The accident involved an unmarked police vehicle near Kidbrooke Park Road in Eltham
Two Metropolitan Police officers who drove unmarked cars that day are now under criminal investigation; both might face charges for dangerous driving that led to death. A third officer — who was just riding in one of the cars — is also being checked for misconduct. The vehicles were going to some other call when this happened
The deaths of the woman and her baby are tragic‚ and our thoughts remain with her family and friends‚ and all of those affected
The Independent Office for Police Conduct is looking into this crash that happened on a busy street; they need to check:
- What led to the collision
- How the officers acted
- If anyone should face criminal charges
- Whether officers should get disciplinary action
The victims family has asked for privacy during this hard time; investigators are talking to them about how the case moves forward
