London hospitals face dress code drama over staff wearing political symbols

At five major London hospitals staff members got into hot water for wearing pro-Palestine symbols while treating patients (which made some Jewish patients feel un-easy)

Caroline Turner from UK Lawyers for Israel points out: “Hospital settings need to stay neutral; when staff show political views it creates un-wanted division“

Multiple issues came up at different locations:
* At Whipps Cross a trainee wore Palestine sports-wear with maps
* Newham Hospital staff had pro-Palestine badges on their work-lanyards
* St Bartholomews front-desk worker displayed flag pins
* Several nurses wore Socialist Worker-made badges in tri-colors

A serious incident happened during dialysis treatment — staff members threatened to stop care if patient didnt remove photo evidence; this breaks many health-care rules. The hospital trust (which runs these five medical centers) said: “we are sorry for this mix-up“

The dress-code policy needs changes now — not waiting till fall-25 as planned. Current rules say staff should dress proper-like to make patients trust their care; but theres no clear info about political items. Legal experts say this might go against equality laws‚ since it creates a not-so-nice space for some patients
