London commuters brace for November's massive Tube shutdown
Multiple unions plan strikes across London Underground starting this week‚ with major disruptions expected through mid-November Its going to affect millions of daily travelers with different worker groups striking on various dates
Londonʼs transport system faces big problems as unions plan many strikes (which will make traveling hard for millions of people)
The first wave starts today with engineering staff not working till tomorrow evening; more groups will join later. Different worker-groups picked various dates to stop working through mid-november. The worst days — when almost no trains might run — are gonna be:
- nov-5 when RMT drivers dont work
- nov-7 when Aslef train drivers stop
- nov-12 with another full drivers strike
We dont want to go on strike but Underground management wont sit down properly and negotiate with us
Transport for London offered a 4.6% pay-rise but unions say its not enough. Mick Lynch from RMT thinks the deal isnt fair: his main worry is that some workers might lose their right to group-bargaining
TfLʼs spokesperson says theyʼre trying to fix things — they already made the offer better since talks started. Right now they cant tell which tube-lines will run: some stations might close on strike-days but theyʼll know more next week. The company says their deal helps lower-paid staff most and is good for Londonʼs economy
