A student-turned-attacker caused havoc at the Wuxi Vocational College in eastern China yesterday when he stabbed eight people to death (due to his anger about a failed test and low intern pay)
The 21-year old Zhang got arrested right at the schools entrance; police confirmed he admitted to the crime. The attack happened in Yixing city which is located in the eastern part of Jiangsu province
A local resident Mr Duan brought chrysanthemums to honor the victims: “These kids were just 18-19 years old; we need better mental help for young people‚“ he said while placing flowers near the schools gate
This incident comes right after another mass-attack that happened in Zhuhai city just a few days ago — an SUV crashed into people near a sports center killing 35 and hurting 43 others. The suspected driver whos 62 years old is now in custody
Since regular people cant own guns in China attackers often use other ways to hurt others like:
- Knife attacks
- Car crashes
- Setting fires
It is important to establish a social safety net and a psychological counselling mechanism
The two back-to-back attacks started an online talk about mental health issues but many posts got deleted by internet censors
