Russia made a bold-move in Ukraine conflict by testing its new super-fast weapon. On nov-21 the Kremlin fired an experimental missile (called Oreshnik) at Dnipro city which they say flies at mach-11 speed
No one in the world has such weapons
The Russian leader mentioned that this high-tech projectile could target any country whose weapons are used against Russia. The missile carried six non-nuclear warheads with multiple sub-parts; making it hard-to-intercept by US defense systems
NATO and Ukrainian officials plan an emergency meet-up on nov-26‚ while NATO chief Mark Rutte had talks with president-elect Donald Trump in Florida about security problems. Volodymyr Zelensky called this strike a UN Charter violation
European leaders shared different views on this situation:
- Viktor Orban from Hungary warned about serious consequences
- Polish PM Donald Tusk saw it as a decisive moment
- Czech minister Jan Lipavský called it just a scare tactic
Gen Sergei Karakayev who leads Russias Strategic Missile Forces said Oreshnik could hit targets across Europe with nuclear or regular warheads. Putin confirmed more tests would happen based on security risks to Russia
