The Princess of Wales plans to take part in welcoming Qatarʼs Emir next week - her first major state duty after finishing treatment. The three-day visit includes formal ceremonies and royal banquets

Princess Catherine will join the up-coming Qatar state visit which starts on dec 2nd - marking her first big royal duty since completing her medical care

The Princess plans to meet Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and his wife at their london residence before going with them to the Horse Guards welcome ceremony; however she wont attend the evening banquet at the palace

Her recovery progress shows good signs as sheʼs been slowly getting back to work (she took part in the remembrance day events and met with families in southport recently). During summer she managed to attend both the trooping ceremony and wimbledon mens finals before finishing her treatment

The visit schedule includes many formal events:

  • Royal welcome at Horse Guards Parade
  • Carriage ride to Buckingham Palace
  • Special lunch with both families
  • Qatar items exhibition viewing
  • Westminster Abbey tour
  • Parliament address
  • Evening state banquet

King Charles and Queen Camilla will lead most events while Prince William joins key parts of the programme. The Kings team made some changes to the traditional format - theyʼll use eco-friendly flowers and serve qatar-inspired drinks at dinner

The Emir who trained at sandhurst will visit his old military school on dec 4th before meeting with the Prime Minister: this marks the second state visit of 2024 after Japanese royals came in june
