Three nations join forces to create super-fast missiles ahead of schedule
UK‚ US and Australia team-up to build missiles that fly five times faster than sound. The three-way deal includes joint testing worth $258 million and opens doors for future tech-sharing
In a ground-breaking move UK US and Australia made a deal to speed-up creation of super-fast missiles (that can fly way quicker than sound)
The three-way agreement part of AUKUS pact focuses on developing hyper-speed weapons that move five-times faster than sound: defense systems and launch equipment will be made together. John Healey British defence chief says this work keeps them ahead on battlefields and helps world peace
The deal sets up a special test project with these features:
- Six test flights before 2028
- Budget of $258-million
- Joint work on defense tech
- Shared knowledge between nations
The Pentagonʼs tech-research head Heidi Shyu points out that this team-up helps them work better on both attack and defense systems. US military has put lots of money into these fast-missiles lately; its different branches work on various ways to use them
The first part of AUKUS was about helping Australia build special submarines; now this second part lets countries share more high-tech stuff (and maybe Japan will join too). Some people in Washington werenʼt sure about sharing secret tech but they worked it out
All three countries will mix their smart-people and money to make everything happen faster than planned. Theyʼre also looking at AI and underwater military stuff – its all part of their big plan to keep things balanced in the Pacific area
