Police track down new suspects in massive Post Office computer mess-up
Met Police found two more people to look into for the Post-Office computer problem making it four suspects now. The case got bigger after tv-show made everyone talk about it earlier this year
The Met Police recently found two more people to check out in the Post-Office computer mess-up bringing the total number of suspects to four. Officers met with Sir Alan Bates and other affected shop-owners last sunday to talk about whats going on
Between late-90s and mid-2010s more than 900 shop-owners got in big trouble because of a broken computer system that mixed-up their money numbers. Even though the government said theyʼd give £600‚000 to people who got cleared many still havent seen any money (which is super-unfair)
The whole thing got super-big after a tv-show came out: lots of people started talking about it and the government put aside £1.8 billion for pay-outs. The investigation team – which has police from all over UK – is getting ready to talk to more shop-owners who got hurt by this
This wont be quick; we need to look through tens-of-millions of papers and prove people did bad things on purpose
The police need to show that someone really meant to do wrong things not just made mistakes. They have to check lots of stuff like: fraud fake-papers and money problems. The team thinks theyll find more people to look into as they dig deeper into all the files
