Former UK leader suggests bold plan for Ukraine's future defense structure

Boris Johnson shared his take on Ukraine peace-keeping: British forces should join euro-partners to guard future cease-fire lines. His statement comes as president-elect Trump (who takes office 01/20/25) pushes for quick war resolution
Speaking on Ukraine: The Latest podcast Johnson made clear his position: “I dont think we should be sending in combat troops to take on the Russians“ but suggested that British forces must be part of euro peace-keeping team — its impossible to imagine such operation without UK presence
We collaborated with the Russians in 1994 and deprived the Ukrainians of nuclear weapons‚ which would have protected them from the horror of whats happening now
The ex-PM pointed to UKʼs duty (as co-signer of Budapest deal from 30 years back) to help Ukraine. This agreement led to:
- Ukraine giving up nuclear arms
- Security promises from major powers
- Protection guarantees for post-soviet states
Meanwhile Putin shared his terms: Ukraine must drop NATO plans and give up 4 regions. He also warned about using new missiles if Kyiv gets nuclear weapons. Last week Ukraine used brit-made Storm Shadow missiles to hit targets in Russia which made kremlin angry
