Farage gets unexpected response about Remembrance ceremony participation

Nigel Farage faced a set-back when trying to join the wreath-laying ceremony at the Cenotaph (an event thats been part of brit-ish tradition since mid-20th century). The Reform UK leader couldnt participate because his party dont have enough MPs - they need six but only have five

I personally am not complaining but other people are

Farage stated on GB News

Other political figures like Sir Keir Starmer and Sir Ed Davey took part in the ceremony; while Gavin Robinson from DUP (who also has five MPs) got to lay a wreath due to special rules for devolved nations leaders

The whole thing comes from an old-school protocol from 84 which got updated to include regional parties: they can join if they have most seats in their area. Richard Tice Reform UKs deputy chief wasnt happy and called it a stitch-up because they got more votes than:

  • Lib Dems
  • SNP
  • DUP

In a different story Ministers said no to Farages idea about helping with US-UK talks. Darren Jones from Treasury made it clear - he should focus on local work instead of US stuff. The minister pointed out that Farage might want to work more in Clacton where he got elected (even though this wasnt actually true)
