In a heart-breaking case from Milford Haven Wales‚ Nicola Harteveld lost her 14-year-old daughter Megan Evans to a tragic incident about seven years ago. The story came to light during an ongoing inquest in Haverfordwest
The investigation uncovered disturbing details: classmates had created facebook hate-groups targeting Megan (which were later removed after school reports). After her daughters passing Harteveld found more evidence of cyber-bullying while checking Megans social-media accounts; however when questioned Megans friends denied any knowledge of harassment
On that fateful winter evening Megan attended a school meeting about an upcoming France trip seeming quite normal. Her parents left for Cardiff with four younger siblings while she stayed home with older ones. Around 10pm – her brother discovered her in a locked bathroom despite emergency services quick response they couldnt save her
The teen was known as a talented artist and hockey enthusiast who had been excited about an upcoming Justin Bieber concert. Her family shared:
She had a big heart and would do anything to help anyone; she brought love and laughter into our home
The school records showed some concerning patterns: Megan had shown out-of-character behavior in class but the school focused mainly on:
- Uniform violations
- Verbal conflicts with staff
- Classroom disruptions
Education authority representative Malcolm Duthie noted that evidence gathering was difficult since most communication happened through snap-chat where messages auto-delete after 24hrs. Harteveld has since established Megans Starr Foundation providing free counseling to local youth
