Right-wing activist gets prison time for breaking court rules in documentary funded by well-known US media figure. Film contained restricted content about refugee case that led to legal troubles

Stephen Yaxley-Lennon (known as Tommy Robinson) got an 18-month jail term this fall for breaking court rules: his film project turned out to have a surprising money source behind it

The documentary called “Silenced“ - made about a year ago with cash from Alex Jones InfoWars company - led to big trouble for its creator. Court found Robinson guilty of saying wrong things about a Syrian person ten different times (even though he wasnt allowed to talk about this case anymore)

Jones - who runs InfoWars since late 90s and has almost 3-mil followers on X - is known for his own legal problems: he had to pay over $1‚5-bil to families after saying bad things about Sandy Hook school event. Last year he finally said it was real; then he went bankrupt

The film actually belonged to others‚ but Robinson was the driving force behind its content

Sasha Wass KC told the court

Robinson showed up on Jones show many times in past years; they seem to be friends. When Robinson got in trouble Jones wrote on X: “The UK is now run like North-Korea“ and asked to free him

The court heard that InfoWars gave money and gear for making this 1-hour-45-minute long film. Robinson legal team said the company pretty much ordered this whole project‚ but didnt tell who exactly owns it now
